FROM OUT OF THE ASHES: A workshop for kids on grit, resilience, and growing from adversity
The American Psychological Association states that “grit is what separates the very best from those who are simply good enough”. In this 2-hour workshop, kids will learn about grit, resilience, and the benefits of growing from adversity. The legend of the Phoenix will be discussed along with more modern stories of those who have overcome great obstacles and persevered.
Character strengths play a pivotal role in determining our success, and among them, grit and resilience shine as some of the most crucial qualities. Alongside other vital strengths like self-control, optimism, and ambition, they serve as reliable predictors of achievement. What sets grit and resilience apart is their potential for growth and development, unlike intelligence and IQ, which are often seen as fixed attributes.
During the workshop, we will also discuss the importance of nurturing a growth mindset, emphasizing the value of hard work, and recognizing failure as an essential part of the learning and development process.
